Synopsis français.
Robert est un magicien qui se produit dans une petite salle de spectacle en difficulté, où ses tours de cartes peinent à attirer du public. Son gérant, Frank, lui donne un ultimatum : soit il fait des tours plus spectaculaires, faute de quoi, la salle devra fermer. En réalité, Frank l'ignore mais Robert possède de véritables pouvoirs magiques, Il peut faire voler les objets, les faire apparaître et bien plus encore. C'est sa passion pour les tours plus simples et le fait que ses pouvoirs le heurtent qui l'empêche de les utiliser sur la scène.
Lors d'une soirée sans succès, il décide d'embrasser ses capacités et impressionne enfin la foule. Frank, voyant le potentiel commercial, pousse Robert à exploiter pleinement sa magie pour sauver la salle. Mais plus Robert utilise sa magie, plus il prend conscience des limites de son pouvoir, et des conséquences qu’il pourrait avoir sur sa vie et sa passion. À quel prix est-il prêt à sacrifier son art pour sauver son avenir ?
English synopsis.
Robert is a magician in a small struggling venue. He performs card and coin tricks to a near
inexistant audience. The manager of the venue, Frank, tells him his sleight of hand tricks are
not pulling in the crowds, that he needs to try doing bigger tricks or else the venue might have
to close. Unbeknownst to Frank, Robert possesses real magical abilities. He can make things
float, appear out of thin air and much more. What is keeping him from using them on stage is
his passion for more simple sleight of hand tricks and the fact that his powers hurt him. When
he comes back on stage, the audience still does not respond well to his card tricks. He uses
his powers and the crowd is suddenly stunned. Frank now sees gold and pushes him to use
them to bring in the big bucks.

Biographie :
Maintenant installé au Saguenay, Mathieu Gauvreau a d'abord complété un certificat en scénarisation à l'UQAM, un BFA à NSCAD à Halifax et un MFA à York à Toronto en cinéma.
Lorsqu'il habitait à Québec, il a fondé le collectif d'édition L'Antécrise avec quelques amis. Ensemble, ils ont publié de nombreux fanzines et livres d'une facture résolument anarcho-dada. Le collectif a été actif pendant cinq ans, soit de 2013 à 2017.
Influencé par sa rencontre avec le 'pataphysicien Florent Veilleux, sa pratique cinématographique a ensuite évolué vers des films fantastiques destinés à un public jeunesse. Il a récemment réalisé sa troisième comédie musicale en collaboration avec Sarah Presne. Il s'intéresse aux univers merveilleux et à l'imaginaire sous toutes ses facettes.
Biography :
Now living in Saguenay, Mathieu Gauvreau first completed a certificate in screenwriting at UQAM, a BFA at NSCAD in Halifax and a MFA at York in Toronto in film production.
When he lived in Québec City, he founded the publishing collective L'Antécrise with a few friends. Together, they published numerous fanzines and books with a definite anarcho-dada style. The collective was active for five years, from 2013 to 2017.
Influenced by his meeting with 'pataphyscian Florent Veilleux, his film practice then evolved towards fantastic films aimed at a youth audience. He recently finished his third musical in collaboration with Sarah Presne. He is interested in musicals, fantastical universes and imagination in all its forms.
